Happy New Year guys! I’m excited about 2012. Why you ask? We all get a fresh start! I’ve got a buncha New Years Resolutions and bucket list goals I plan on accomplishing. If you haven’t done yours yet, here is some inspiration. A lot of my New Years Resolutions are goals on my bucket list I’m accomplishing this year.
I’ve seen a buncha posts on people choosing one word to describe what their vision is and what they’re striving for in 2012. If I were to choose one word, I think mine would be: Character.
Character is such a big word. It encompasses everything from being a good moral person to basic principals like working hard, striving for excellence, doing what you say you’ll do no matter what, being humble, learning from others, etc. I believe that character is one of the main keys of having true success.
I’ve always felt a lot like King David (you know… David and Goliath? Yea… that kid ended up becoming king of the nation when he was older). David was anointed to become King when he was a kid-way before he even met Goliath. What did he do when he got the news? Did he write his acceptance speech? Did he start practicing his “king wave?” No. He faithfully served his dad for years in the family business, was attacked by and defeated and lion, challenged and defeated Goliath, led thousands of men in battle as the commander of the army, and the finally, many many years later, he become the king. He wasn’t thrust into that position automatically. There was this whole period of preparation to develop his character so he could be trusted with such an opportunity.
Why am I telling you all this? Like David, I feel like I’ve been called to do great things with my life. I feel I’m supposed to become very successful and use my success to help people- but I’m not there yet. I’m in this preparation period. A lot of my New Years resolutions are geared toward personal growth and building my character. Here are a few I will share with you :)
- Everyday, do something out of my comfort zone
- Wake up early every day and set out time to grow spiritually and mentally (this will be hard cause I love to sleep!)
- Interview 10 self made multimillionaires (I’ll keep you posted on this and what I learn!)
- Be the top person at my job
- Be apart of Leadership Oklahoma
- Train for my MMA Fight in 2013 (Really nervous about this. I’ll post on this more later)
- Start telling my family I love them when I leave
