Teacher Gives Life to Save Students | Connecticut School Shooting (Video)

Hey Ordinary,

I’m sure everyone has heard the news of the Sandy Hook School shooting in Newton, Connecticut. The whole nation is grieving over this tragedy. As my thoughts and prayers have gone to Newton, Connecticut, I’ve often wondered what I would have done if I were thrust in this situation. Gun fire ringing in the hallways. People screaming. Being a man who stands for honor and protecting the weak, what would I have done to protect those around me? Victoria Soto, a first grade teacher, 27 years old (only a year apart from me), gave her life to save her students.

‘She was found huddled over her children, her students, doing instinctively what she knew was the right thing. I’m just proud that Vicki had the instincts to protect her kids from harm,’ Soto’s cousin, Jim Wiltsie. Read More→

Why the H*** Would God Allow a Man be Born with No Arms and No Legs?

Hey Ordinary,

Last week I posted on Nick Vujicic. If you haven’t read it, click here.

A lot of times, you look around the world and everything seems so unfair. You see people like Nick and you can’t help but question God. “Why the h*** would a loving God let a pastor’s son be born without arms and legs???” Well, here’s his response to that question:

Nick: Why did you make me this way?
God: Do you trust me?

“I thank god that he didn’t answer my prayer when I was begging for arms and legs at age 8 because guess what? Because I don’t have arms and legs, he’s using me all around the world. And we’ve seen so far approx (this is conservative) 200,000 souls come to know Christ  in the last 6 or 7 years,” Nick Vujicic.

“Ohio runner stops in state final to aid fallen opponent” Am I Dead Inside?

Ordinary,

So… I’ve been seeing this story all over Facebook this morning.  Comments like, “This brought tears to my eyes!” and “This is the definition of a true hero,” flooded my newsfeed. “Ohio Runner Stops in State Final to Aid Fallen Opponent.” So naturally, I clicked on it and watched it.

Inspiring? It was nice and all, but… honestly I wouldn’t have done that and wouldn’t have felt bad. (I kind of feel bad for saying that) I don’t know!!! Get off my case! … I just don’t get it? If it were me, I would have kept on truckin’ without even batting an eye. I would be concerned for the girl obviously, but there are a ga-zillion people watching, her coach, her team mates there to help her out. After the race I would go back and check on her to make sure she was okay.

“Brings tears to my eyes?” Really?  I don’t get it. Is there something wrong with me? Is it because I’m male? Is it because I’m Asian? Am I heartless??? Maybe it’s because I’m in a sport where winning is contingent upon how hard one person can punch someone else in the face?  Can anyone relate with me? Let me know in a comment :)

Monday Motivation- Steven Furtick- People Who Inspire Me

Hey Ordinary,

I was as in a funk of sorts for the past few weeks, but today I’m back on track and it feels good. Got up early this morning to renew my mind at Panera Bread :)

I missed church on Sunday so I watched church online. When Craig Groschel announced that Steven Furtick was our guest speaker, I let out a quit “Yes!” to myself.

Steven Furtick has always been a person who inspires me.  He’s bold and passionate about his beliefs. I can relate to him. One of the advantages of being young is being “dumb enough to believe that God can do anything.” He’s young, naive, and is changing the world.
